As with many of us, The BBC WinterWatch series was something I looked forward to and every night, I settled down to watch the antics of Martin up trees and under snow and to see some amazing footage of the wildlife in the Highlands and how it was coping with the suitably seasonal weather!
I have been lucky enough to appear on the show a number of times and this year, I managed to sneak in with one of my photos! Last year, a friend Pete and I travelled up to the Cairngorm National Park and went out on the hills photographing Mountain Hare with Andy Howard. It was one of the most amazing wildlife experiences of my life and you can read more about it in my blog post from the time HERE.
I took many hundreds of photos, but one of my favourites was the one that I submitted to the show. I was lucky enough to have Martin choose it as his favourite!
The picture sums up, for me, the extreme temperatures and conditions that these amazing creatures endure on the hills! I was glad to get back to a warm house and a hot drink after a day out in the hills there!
