The tawnies have been busy at the new nest box this week and I have filmed both at the box together for the first time since we put it up.
Sadly, I am still struggling to get the internal camera to record sound. The male is coming in regularly and calling the female into the box. Although they have not both been inside together, the fact that they are both visiting the outside of the box together, makes me increasingly excited about the prospect of them nesting here again in the new year.
The Hikvsion dome internal cam image is brill… just wish I could figure out why the sound is not working….. #gallery-19154-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-19154-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-19154-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-19154-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The male is still caching food in the box during the day and collecting it early evening….
Whilst on site this week, the tawny suddenly appeared in the Owl mansion at the other end of the garden, whilst it was still light. Playing the footage back from the external camera, it was clear it was being mobbed by magpies and had sought shelter in there!
Only a few visits by our resident otter this week…..
… but did capture this clip of mink with a rat….
Another mustelid to add to the collection as well this week…. a stoat appeared briefly at one of the badger sett entrances!
