Gwyllt Hollow makes its TV debut!

Updated: Sep 20

When ITV's 'Coast & Country' show approached me and asked if I would be interested in contributing to their wildlife summer special, I obviously was delighted. I had filmed on numerous occasions at my home in Lichfield, but my new home is so much larger and has so much more potential, it was a great way to show it off and hopefully begin to establish myself, and my work, here in Wales.

The team arrived and spent a day filming in June. Everything was bursting into life and the meadows were full of campion and buttercups. The boot wrens were feeding chicks and my nest boxes all had chicks, including the nuthatch ninjas! We spent the day filming various pieces all around the site, talking about the projects I was undertaking and how everyone can do a bit for wildlife, regardless of how big their plot is.

We had a lovely day with a fabulous team. The piece would be completed with am interview at Llanelli Wetland Centre, in early July. This sadly had to be postponed after the election was announced, so this was then filmed in August, as part of their Summer Special show.

I headed down to the wetland centre early evening where they were setting up for the show. Sean Fletcher and Ruth Dodsworth, the presenters, were there and we had time for a quick coffee before rehearsals began. I met some of the other guests too, including 9 year old Jamie Smart... a fabulous young photographer! After my piece was a quick interview with Sean and Ruth.

The full show can be seen on itvX here.

My piece is at about 37 minutes into the show.

Sadly, as always, loads of great stuff we filmed was cut from the piece. They only have a very short amount of time, to cram in as much content as possible. They kindly sent me a copy, so I could share it here on my website. Just click on the play button below to see it.

A big thank you to the Coast & Country team and I am looking forward to filming some more wildlife pieces for them here at Gwyllt Hollow over the coming year and into 2025.
